Stress Echocardiography

A Stress Echocardiography is a comprehensive test designed to assess and compare your heart’s function during rest and at its peak performance level during exercise. This test is particularly useful in evaluating blood flow to the heart muscle and identifying any possible abnormalities.

To start the test, our skilled sonographer will connect an ECG monitor and perform an initial ultrasound of your resting heart. Following this, you will be asked to walk on a treadmill while your blood pressure is closely monitored. The treadmill’s speed and incline will gradually increase every three minutes, pushing your heart towards its maximum rate. Should you experience any discomfort, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, the test will be stopped promptly.

Immediately following the exercise, another ultrasound of your heart is taken to compare its function under stress to its resting state. In total, this insightful and highly informative test takes approximately 30 minutes.

For your comfort, we recommend wearing suitable footwear, ideally comfortable walking shoes, during the Stress Echocardiography.
